A political action committee (PAC) is an organization registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for the purpose of pooling together funds from contributors in order to financially support federal candidates running for public office.
There are 535 members of Congress in Washington, DC, who have the authority to legislate and oversee regulatory actions that can affect our practices. A PAC is the most effective and transparent way for community oncology professionals to ensure their practices and patients avoid the burdens of misinformed legislation and regulatory action. Through the PAC, we have a seat at the table with the most critical audiences in Washington, DC. Active political engagement is vital to maintaining a competitive advantage.
No, FCO PAC is not a Super PAC and cannot accept or disburse unlimited contributions, nor can FCO PAC accept corporate donations in any amount.
Yes, FCO PAC is committed to bipartisan support in both chambers of Congress.
PACs are highly regulated and disclose all activities for public consumption on the FEC’s website.
Nearly 2000 trade associations have PACs, including many representing medical professions includong surgeons, radiologists, nurses, rheumatologists, and more.
All candidates are evaluated by the FCO PAC Board of Directors and chosen based on criteria independent of political party.
US citizens or green card holders over the age of 18 can contribute to FCO PAC.
FCO PAC can accept a maximum of $5,000 per year from contributors. There is no minimum contribution required.
